BUS HIKES- Saturday, May 20 – Caledon Hills
- Level II Bus Hike, 17 km, Dropout, Maps 14-15, End to End #1 of 5, Hilly, rocky, muddy, Moderate pace, Hiking boots, Refreshments
Depart 9 am, York Mills.
This is the first hike of an end to end for the Caledon section and includes features like the Devil's Pulpit. We will be following the new reroute along the Escarpment Sideroad. We should experience the first full green canopy of spring along with warming weather. We will have a refreshment stop afterwards in Bolton.
URBAN HIKES - Saturday, May 20 – Toronto, Highland Creek
- Level II Urban Hike, 14 km, Dropouts, Hilly, flat, muddy, Moderate pace, No dogs, Hiking boots, Refreshments
Depart 1 pm, northeast corner of Ellesmere Rd. & Military Trail. Take the Bloor subway to Kennedy, the LRT to Scarborough Centre, the #38 or #133 bus east on Ellesmere to Military Trail (crossing between Markham Rd and Neilson Rd. Military crosses Ellesmere twice; we meet at the first junction).
Wet 'N' Wild: a series of hikes in Toronto's river valleys. The first part of this hike is rugged, along dirt trails (and no trails). The second part is a mixture of paved paths and dirt trails. We will walk the wild side of Highland Creek at the beginning, coming into Morningside Park., continuing into the U. of T. campus & a hemlock forest and then, on paved paths, to the lake. We will pause at the beach and then continue along the Bluffs. The hike ends at Morningside and Greyabbey Trail.
